One of the immediate questions is how has support been done in the past? The answer is, to a large extent, it was not done. The role of sales managers has changed. The role is broader today, with more responsibility. The science of how to effectively manage sales organizations has also dramatically grown. Sales management today, when done well, is often much more science but still a great deal of art.
